It is with great sadness The Pediatric Group, P.C. shares with his family of patients the passing of Dr. Vito A. Giannuzzi on May 22, 2009. With great pride and respect in his honor, all the owners, providers, and staff of The Pediatric Group, P.C. are fully committed to continue his incredible legacy of caring.
While maintaining his role of a lifetime of caring by leading the group successfully forward in times of change and growth, Dr. Giannuzzi fought a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was committed to the families of Northern Virginia, espcially those whom he saw in the Lake Ridge office, and he touched the lives of thousands of children and families in Northern Virginia since he joined the group, then Wineland, Wilmont and May in 1980. He continued to see patients despite his illness into the first week of May 2009.
From his roots on Long Island, New York and his journey through undergraduate, medical school and residency training years in Washington, D.C., five years of active duty as a pediatrician in the United States Air Force and 29 years in private practice, Dr. Giannuzzi's exemplary life of learning, caring and service to generations of families and their children will always be remembered.
The legacy of Dr. Vito A. Giannuzzi will remain eternal through the works and efforts of The Pediatric Group, P.C. We solemnly honor his passing; salute the strength and love of his wife, Betsy F. Giannuzzi, CPNP, and that of their children and family We are dedicated to preserving his memory through our continued commitment to the health care of children and their families in Northern Virginia.
During his battle with pancreatic cancer, Dr. Giannuzzi was quite concerned at the lack of awareness and funding for research for this relentless type of cancer. He asked that his family endeavor to carry on the battle against pancreatic cancer by increasing awareness, fund raising and pursuing public policy for increased funding. Donations in his memory are accepted on his memorial web page at: www.firstgiving.com/vitogiannuzzimd.
