Prescription Refills

In order to provide you and your child with safe and quality medical care we find it necessary to set the following prescription refill policy. With the exception of certain rescue medications for asthma, we require a 3-5 day turn around time for prescription refills. This enables the staff to request the prescription from the provider and allows the provider adequate time for chart review. These steps are necessary to ensure that you are getting the proper medication and that your child is being seen often enough to assure the best medical care, illness control and medication surveillance that our practice has to offer.

In order for your child's medical problem to be adequately and safely managed we require that any child with asthma, reactive airway disease, chronic lung disease, any other chronic illness as well as any child on ADD, ADHD medications be seen every six months in order to continue to have refills.

Children on ADD, ADHD medications may not have a prescription refilled for stimulant medications if they have not been seen by their regular provider at this office within the last 6 months.

Please call the office 6-8 weeks before your child's prescriptions need to be refilled to schedule your the 6 month follow up visit.  Please call our office when are approaching 1 week of medication left in the bottle.

Children with asthma or reactive airway disease may receive 1 (one) refill of their rescue medication, but no long term prescriptions for these medications unless they are seen every six months. Refills for maintenance preventive medications will be given for up to 6 month intervals at 6 month visits at the discretion of your provider, depending upon your child's condition at the time of the visit.

We understand that all parents are busy; however we endeavor to provide your child with optimum medical care and hope that you will continue to work with us in a team approach to ensure your child's well being.

Sincerely,

The Staff and Providers of The Pediatric Group, PC
